Hi from Colombia,

It’s been a couple of weeks, and I just wanted to update you on what we have been up to.

Since we have arrived, our days have been jam-packed with ministry, and I’m loving every second. Most days start in the kitchen. Kitchen duty consists of chopping veggies, crying over onions, or trying not to cut my finger on a cheese grater (I think I’ve mastered it). In the afternoons, we typically have some sort of kid’s program. Whether that’s hanging out with kids or teaching an English class. You can find some of us helping out with a work project which consists of packing spices (let me tell you, it’s oddly calming).  On Wednesday nights we get to be a part of a ministry called Aguapanla, which serves some of the most vulnerable people in Medellin (a blog on that experience soon). Our weekends are packed with children’s ministry and getting to hang out with and invest in some amazing young people. Each day I am continually amazed by all the things Ciudad Refugio does for the community here in Medellin.

Sadly, ministry came to a halt for a week because several members on my squad tested positive for Covid (bummer, I know). Still, this time of quarantine has been extra special because my squad decided to start 24/7 prayer, which means at any hour of the day or night, at least two people from our squad are in prayer for the city, the ministry, our squad, and just anything or everything. The Lord has truly been teaching me so much through this time of prayer, and it makes me so dang excited for the next month and a half we have left here in Medellin.

One thing that the Lord had been revealing to me is how much I didn’t trust Him. I think there were a lot of areas in my life where I was extremely comfortable. Consequently, over the last month, the Lord has been highlighting those areas and asking me to give those entirely to Him. Truthfully, I didn’t realize how much of a control freak I was.  But on the other side of my comfortability, I have been welcomed with the sweetest embrace from my Father.

My motto for my life has always been “I’m living my best life,” but now, I can genuinely say, “I’M LIVING MY BEST LIFE!”

If you have any prayer requests, I would love to be praying with you and for you during this time!!
