Thoughts & Inspiration

I have been trying to put my thoughts into words for a couple of days but I still sit so
amazed by what the Lord has done over the past couple of weeks. I don’t think I’ll ever have the right words to convey the goodness of God– but here’s to trying!

We have been in Guatemala for a little over 2 weeks and from the second we set foot on the soil, I have seen the Lord in every detail. Starting with a conversation at the airport which led to me being able to share a little of why we are doing what we are doing. Every moment since then I have seen the Lord so tangibly here.

We have been doing unscripted ministry here in Guatemala.  Unscripted means we are not partnered with a structured ministry host here. We are to listen to the Lord and trust what He has for us. If I’m being honest, I’ve struggled big-time with trusting the voice of the Lord. I let doubt creep in and I start to question if what I’m hearing is from the Lord or if I’m making stuff up in my head. As you can imagine this whole “unscripted” approach to ministry has been pretty daunting to me. But I was recently reminded that “unscripted” ministry is simply doing life and allowing God in every moment. Being sensitive to His voice. Not shying away from a conversation with a stranger. We have been able to make connections with dozens of people here in Guatemala by just simply being available.

Walking in the city square has become one of my very favorite things to do here.  I think it’s because every day for the past 2 weeks we have been met by a sweet older lady who makes the most beautiful treasures, from headbands and backpacks and everything in between. Over the past two weeks, we have been able to create a relationship with her. One where she looks for us eagerly every day just to show us her new goodies. Her smile lights up the park.

I have found that Jesus in Katerina

When we first arrived here in the city we were on a mission to find the best coffee shop. We had made our way into one of the local places and we met a man who told us he and his family were trying to make their way to the states and needed help. We gave him some food and he left. Automatically I knew that it wasn’t gonna be the last time we saw this man. Turns out the next day we see him again. We got to talk to him more that day and hear a little about him and his family. We parted ways.

A couple of days later my team and I were in the park praying over the people we had come in contact with. We started a list of names when we got here so we could be intentional in prayer. We got to his name and we began praying over him and not even 5 minutes later he shows up. He casually walks up to us with the biggest smile on his face. We got to spend the next 35 minutes speaking life into this man. (like wow God, thanks)

I have found Jesus in Heron.

To think those are just a few of the encounters we have had! God continues to blow me away!

What a sweet couple of weeks it has been basking in the goodness of God. Waking up each morning and asking the Lord, “What do you want today to look like?” and going from there. Taking time to have a conversation. Smiling at someone. Simply asking questions to get to know someone. Simply living a life saying, “I’m available Lord, use me.”

That’s something I want to take with me forever. “I’m available Lord, use me.”

A ‘lil update for ya!!

We head to A L B A N I A in a little over a week!! SAY WHATTT?! if you could be in prayer for safe travels and open hearts!!

  2. I am a race alum from many years ago. I was feeling nostalgic so I started browsing blogs.

Unscripted ministry is an amazing chance to feel what pioneer missionaries felt. From being the first in an unreached area to being one of the OG’s(the apostles). Ministry and missions for those people was completely different than what we today view it as. They had to follow the leading of the Spirit with every step. Every victory could only be chalked up to the Lord. When you’re walking down the street aimless and you feel that impulse to do something. Do it, fearlessly knowing that the Lord is guiding your every step. When you are seeking the Lord with your whole heart He will use you planting seeds you may never see the fruit of.

I’ll be praying for you and your team.
